This excerpt is about Thomas in chapter 11:
I have come to the fore most appropriately when Tamara started school. Actually, I have a photographic memory, I have total recall, and my abilities have come to be very advantageous for the little ones and the others also. I have been very important to the other persona's in getting the schoolwork finished.
Therefore, you can see it truly is not conceit for I have a real knowing of myself as a strong persona who has come to the aide of the others. That makes me sure of myself.
You have to know that being a male persona gives me a natural type of superiority. I am one of the six prominent alters that possess the body the majority of the time. My purpose in being here is to take over when it comes to going to school and being able to concentrate on the material learned in school. This started in the middle of school grades and followed all the way up to the years in college.
I was able to get higher then average grades because I have total recall and a photographic memory. I am the only persona of the six prominent ones who does not feel emotions or physical or mental pain. Therefore, I can function at school or on a job without any outside problems. Although at many times in earlier years I was overwhelmed by the many female persona’s, so my power was not as much as in later years.
When it comes to such problems as flash backs and feelings of terror for the sadistic abuse that was performed on the body this is when I can come into play especially if these things are interfering with learning such as in school. I have the ability to transfer these feelings into energy to focus on schoolwork.
One other ability that I have that is different from the others is that I am ambidextrous, but mostly I use my left hand. I am only logical. Actually, I am all the way logical, even though I can use both left and right hands when writing. My focus in life is to do all of the intellectual work that may come my way.
There is some blocking from my persona because the emotional problems that
transpires. If that happens, then there is a great deal of mental confusion. It is like a person who cannot make up their mind on what to do next. The female persona's do not mean to cause trouble. You see, the emotions get so strong that I am pushed aside sometimes. Even though I feel that I should stay in charge. So therefore, you can see I am not that strong especially when the other persona's gang upon me.
This is Tamara, and I wanted to explain some things to you. Sometimes Thomas is oblivious to the pain suffered by the others since he possesses no emotions. It is a good quality to have, but because of it, he has a difficult time having the compassion to understand.
In addition, Thomas is a male persona and because of growing up in the fleshly family, the man was always superior in intelligence, or at least that is what we came to believe. I learned that this and many other fallacies are not true. It is true for the dysfunctional family though. At least it was true for our family.
Thomas came from the deepest center of the brain's core. In other chapters, you will read that those who were scared the most with the abuse come from the deepest part of the brain, which is true.
My senses are awakened when I am by the ocean.
